Hey everyone, I was downloading something and disabled avast on-access scanner. After I finished downloading it, I turned back on Avast like 10 minutes later and I suddenly had about 60 viruses/trojans etc swarming my computer… I ran Mbam, and STOPzilla and removed almost all of the viruses. I still have some problems though.

<!--

Problems : On my desktop, there’s a white screen that says Microsoft windows has experienced an unexpected error. As a precaution, your Active Desktop has been turned off. And when I click on Restore my active desktop, the desktop goes black for half a second and brings me back to the exact same desktop [The white screen with a triangle and a exclamation mark on it].
Also, When I right click on my desktop and click properties, it says that the system admin has disabled the display control panel.
I’m missing some desktop icons [about 8-10].
When I go to Google and search something then click the link, it goes to either a advertising place, or some other search engine that probably has malware on it, or it just says ‘Page load error’.
And then, my Microsoft XP windows skin looks its from windows 98, so I can’t change it unless I go to properties on the desktop.
So that’s everything , but I also think that I still have some viruses that Mbam and STOPzilla couldn’t detect [I'm currently running avast, so i'll tell you if it catches a virus]. If anyone knows what’s causing this, and how to remove it safely without destroying my computer, please tell me T.T Also, I had to remove STOPzilla 5.0 [I payed for it *cough* crack *cough*] because it caused some errors that restarted the computer 5 minutes later. But I deleted the registries so its all good. So if anyone could answer it, and what I can do to uninstall it, please tell me.

I have a Toshiba Satellite with Vista. It was working perfectly fine, until one day I turned it on and it was running at a snails pace. Weird thing, the internet and all applications work peachy. It’s only things that are directly related to windows (anything on the desktop, searching through documents, even just clicking on “start” is slow). Another thing that occurred this fine day was my xp skin for the toolbar was replaced with windows classic theme and has vanished from my computer. This all occurred when my Norton 360 trail ran out, but I have AVG and it can’t find anything. What is going on??? Please help.

Today I had an error saying a buffer overrun was detected or something and that explorer.exe had to be closed. Whenever I clicked ok or the cross to close, all the stuff at my desktop disappeared. Using Advanced Windows Care I managed to solve that, aparently. However, some sites I accessed would not appear properly, like skins were incomplete and stuff, and I rebooted my PC to see if this was solved. When the PC rebooted and accessed my desktop, all the icons and the ’start’ taskbar would appear for only mere seconds and then disappear. The only way I have to acces stuff is by creating tasks with ctrl+alt+del. I talked to a friend and he gave me a program called ‘Windows Registry Repair Pro’ I ran it, defragmented the registry and searched for errors, rebooted and nothing was solved, it’s the same. I already tryied to open explorer.exe by creating a new task, everything appears for some seconds and disappears again. Sometimes it does does more then once. How can I fix this? Thank you.

128 MB SyncDRAM
Also, I’m running Windows XP which came on the computer (but now with SP3).
I get no sound at all; when I plug in some headphones (not all but one or two pair) I get a fuzzy sound, like when the plug touches your skin.
Other than the sound not working, the computer works absolutely fine. I noticed the problem when the Volume Control was missing from the bottom right-hand corner. I’ve gone in through Control Panel and tried the typical fixes that can be found with Google but none work. I was hoping someone here might have an answer and save me from cracking it open and getting a new sound card.
Thanks!
